WordPress Plugin: Official StatCounter Plugin

November 13, 2009 by Sze Hau 1 Comment

Official StatCounter Plugin is a plugin created by StatCounter to insert statcounter.com stats script into WordPress blog automatically. StatCounter is a  free yet reliable invisible web tracker, highly configurable hit counter and real-time detailed web stats.

Statcounter

If you have StatCounter and running it’s script in your WordPress blog, it is recommended that you use this plugin instead of manually edit theme’s source code or put the script at text box in the widget. This is because every time, you need to change a theme, you do not need to re-insert the code manually.

To install the plugin, simply log into your WordPress using administrator account and search for “Official StatCounter Plugin” under the install new plugin page. Or, you can also download the plugin from the WordPress plugin website: Official StatCounter Plugin

Yeah installing the official StatCounter plugin is a good idea for WP bloggers who change their theme periodically so that they don’t have to re-implement the code again.

However, installing a plugin will increase the database which slightly increase the blog load time a bit longer as it calls up data from the database.

So for those like me, that use only a single theme and never gonna switch it, I’d suggest adding the code into your widgets/sidebar instead for the sake of blog speed.

Thanks for recommending the plugin anyway.
